Hi Colin,
Yes as I state in the article, any app ends up building its own framework, whether it uses a general-purpose framework underneath or not. The difference is that it will be your framework, the one suited to your app, your needs, without so much more to write (I experienced it). Using this approach will also avoid locking, forced upgrade, obsolescence as you say, and constraints that are nothing but unnecessary clutter to your app development, needs and performance.
